“During the internship, they said not to be afraid of anything, because, in case of anything, everyone will help and will contribute to development”
Today, Roksolyana Pryshlyak, sales manager of the central office, talks about her career in the company.
“I came to the Terra-Pack Co. after university in 2019. At that time, I already had work experience in other organizations, but the work at Terra-Pack Co. was the most serious.
When I joined the position of office administrator, I immediately liked the job: I saw a serious approach to all issues. I was told about the scope of my duties, and I was also in awe of the team. During the internship, they said not to be afraid of anything, because, in case of anything, everyone will help and contribute to development. That’s how I got both fighting spirit and trust in the company.
It was easy from the first day. One of the duties of an office administrator is to receive incoming calls. Communicating with people is always interesting. I knew about the company, what exactly we produce, but I did not have more detailed information. I was interested in exactly how managers advise the client, how the client’s conversation with the manager goes on.
It was the starting point – you could work and study at once. Yes, later I moved to my second career link.
The second step is to work as a support manager in the sales department. In this position, I already helped managers sell, made out invoices, helped when colleagues were on vacation. I always went to work with joy. There wasn’t a single day at Terra Pac that I didn’t want to go to work. Working days were interesting. I changed my environment, because before that it consisted of completely different people. New people shared their experience.
Over time, a vacant position of sales manager appeared in the company. It was in my mind before that I could become a manager. When the opportunity arose to move to a new position, I was hesitant. At first, I was overcome by the fear that I would not be able to properly advise the client, that I would not know something. I hesitated: is it time to propose my candidacy? Everyone supported me. None of the colleagues said: “Why do you need this?”, on the contrary – they said: “Lyana, you can do it! Liana, go ahead, you need to develop!”
The managers of the sales department of the central office supported me in every way. Yes, Galya Khamula shared her experience of working with clients – I saw her ease in communication, Ira Lega shared various work “chips”, Vasyl Turchyn – showed how to properly arrange everything, where to find hints in the database, how to create reports, Ivan Martyniuk supported morally and instilled confidence that everything would work out. The fighting spirit did not leave me and I offered my candidacy. My proposal was approved. That’s how I became a sales manager.
As a sales manager, we easily got along with the first client. I realized that it is not as difficult as I thought at first. She learned the product gradually, while helping managers as a support manager. When I issued the bill, I was interested and asked: what kind of product is it, what is it used for, in what units is it measured, and the managers shared information and experience.
When the war started, the mood was very depressed. We went to work and understood that we would not work for a while. I thought it would be long. It was supported by the fact that our team went back to work in a short period of time. It confirmed the belief that everything will be fine. Within a month, we resumed work almost completely. It was a great support for each of us, because staying at home in four walls at that time was very difficult. We made sales to customers and packed Terra-Pakc Co. products for humanitarian aid.
I am a primary school teacher by education. When handing over the duties of office manager to her successor, she said: “You explain like a child in elementary school, I immediately remember everything.” Perhaps in the future, I will be able to transfer my knowledge to other managers and thus realize my pedagogical potential.
After the end of the war, I see “Terra-Pack” as a large and friendly company with many new branches: in the South, in the East of Ukraine.
The main desire to the “Terra-Pakc Co.” is to never give up, to develop. And the main thing is Victory!
